This clip allows people to see the beauty of the Palestinian people before they were ethnically cleansed and murdered and made into refugees by the State of Israel. It is impossible not to be moved by the evocative images of Palestinian society in happier times when people lived and loved in freedom. The man-made catastrophe that decimated that society in 1948 is still ongoing today as Israel reduces the Palestinians to a sub-human existence under its savage and merciless military occupation.

As the Australian prime minister prepares to move a motion on 12 March honouring Israel’s independence, these images remind us of the immorality of such a declaration because Israel’s existence cannot be viewed separately from the terrible injustice done to the Palestinian people.
